I love the promotional press releases on just about anything that would appear appealing and allegedly planned for the US market. By the time it occurs, it's massaged into something else that never lives up to its conceptual origin. Not even close.

I imagine it's something like The Fountainhead. There everyone wanted a piece of the product.

Big deal... Fifteen years ago the auto industry and executive federal branch promised us a 70 mpg family car that will be safe and comfortable. So what happened? Promises are made to be broken.

A $4,000 car from GM? Knowing them it will come with a check-engine light that is hard wired on (just easier that way), still won't be able to keep it's fluids from leaking/burning off and all things like doors/windows will cost extra. All recalls will be swept under the carpet. Then when they don't sell any they will ask the taxpayers for a bailout.

I could see the AAA (CAA) offering a free "Give us a push" service for Yugo/Lada owners.

Maybe if we get to see them ..we can comment. I've heard they can be bodacious.

Never owned one, but was Yugo really that bad a car as it was just a Fiat 128, built under license from Fiat with a modified body. Granted by U.S. standards it was cheaply made with interior way below what we expect but then that was also reflected in an extremally low price.

They are curently building a model called the Yugo Koral IN, which is sold in many Eastern European countries.

That's not such an alien concept in the US. It's usually in the form of a lease and trade in.
