What's the scoop on running a HM oil in a new vehicle? Any issues (benefits/hazards/etc)? I got into a discussion with a neighbor who runs Maxlife in EVERYTHING he owns. I honestly don't know much about HM oils so I didn't have a good knowledge base to advise him one way or the other. Any thoughts? 2 of his daily driver vehicles are only 1 year old, but he has some other really old beaters too.

According to Valvoline, it is ok to use in newer cars, but if you check, you will see no startburst on these oil labels, meaning they may not give you the very best fuel economy possible and may not meet warranty requirements- check your owners manual. I would not hesitate to use it in a newer car, if that is all I had on hand. At the same time, I tend to use Maxlife only in cars that consume, leak oil, or have high mileage like 100-150k miles.

The HM oils are thicker when hot and would probably just cost fuel economy in a new car.
