I picked up a couple Gallons of Maxlife FS because it was the only thing i could find that could be used in a mercon LV spec for my fathers 2010 F150.

I still have a few quarts left over and i was thinking of just buying more and using it for my next Silverado transmission service. It says it can also be used in Dex-VI applications.

Anyone else use it in Dex-VI apps? I used Havoline Dex-VI in my moms Traverse recently as it is ~$4 a qt on amazon. I have Valvoline FS Dex-VI in my Silverado.

I can Get Maxlife FS for $4 a qt everyday at WM. Would you guys use the ML FS ATF in a Dex-VI app?

But I've heard good things about it. Probably no worries and you've already got 8 quarts of it!

I have it in four vehicles now:

07 Chevy express, Dex VI orig. spec (is a 4L60E)
07 Chevy equinox, T-IV orig. spec
02 Lexus, t-IV orig. spec
98 Acura, Dex III orig. spec

It works great in all and feels like "new" long after the fill (as a full synthetic should).

The improvement in the 4L60E was the best of all of them vs. the Dex VI that was in it and still within it's service life. Much improved shifting.

I'm using it in my 2008 4t45e. I had my transmission fluid changed twice through out the warranty period then I had a dealership flush out my fluid at 99k miles and soon after my transmission would jolt and act like it was falling out of gear on the highway. 1 Year later took it to another dealership to have them drop the pan and change the filter and they stated "your transmission will slip after we change the fluid". A couple months after that service it started slipping from 1-2 gear afterwards. Angrier than ever, I decided to learn how to service my own transmissions.

I did a drain and fill with super tech dexvi and a new filter and it did not help. I then added lubegard red and it helped somewhat with the falling out of gear. I then added seafoam trans tune and it made it slip in nearly every gear. As a last resort I added a few ounces of leftover Lucas stop slip and it didn't help either.

After talking with a friend who is an avid Honda fan he recommended doing a 3x drain/fill that Honda recommends. And that is precisely what I did, using a new filter and Maxlife ATF. After every drain/fill it got drastically better. It doesn't slip anymore and it doesn't jolt out of gear on the highway anymore.

Idk what the transmission flush did to start causing all the issues I had but I do know the dealer used a BG flush kit with some sort of conditioner. A local transmission shop believes the valve body had some dirt get stuck causing the issue because he couldn't find anything mechanically or electronically wrong.

So.... I have full faith in Valvoline Maxlife ATF in a DEXVI application.

BTW... Supertech DEXVI is NOT a licensed product. It says so on the back of the bottles. This is a recent change by Supertech because the new bottles are a different shape and the old bottles don't mention anything about not being licensed. Just FYI.

Running Maxlife DEX/MERC in our 4T65E equipped, DEX VI specced Upander with very good results.DO IT.

When I was able to work, most repair shops used Valvoline Maxlife. It was used in many Dexron VI transmissions and never was a problem.

Dex6 or Maxlife ATF are both fine in GM transmissions, GM uses valvoline dex6 as OEM fill, so I use one of the two in my 4T65E can't really tell a difference. I believe in order to be Dex6 it has to be synthetic, and Maxlife ATF I'm pretty sure is syn also. I think another poster is correct some of the house-brand Dex6 out there may actually not be synthetic.

All of the official licensed DexronVI are a blend close enough to call synthetic in the states, since it's primarily group 3

My info is the FF GM DexVI ATF is made by PetroCanada.

Most DexVI ATF majority base oils are approx. 70% GroupIII and 25% groupII with the other % being PAO and esters.
