Here's the MaxLife Product Data Sheet .

Note the 5W-30 is 10.6 cSt which is comparable viscosity wise to most 5W-30's on the market.

The API starburst requires a 5W-30 to exhibit a 1.5-2% fuel economy gain as measured against a 5W-30 PAO reference oil in the GF-4 Sequence VIB test.

Since Maxlife does not display the API starburst on the label, it may generate roughly 2% less fuel economy than the starburst oils, but since so many factors have small effects on fuel mileage, this is probably lost in the background noise.

The cold crank rating of Maxlife 5W-30 is 6600 cP @ -30C and would roughly be equivalent to 3300 cP at -25C.

A 3300 cP rating @ -25C beats the majority of dino 10W-30's, so yes, Maxlife 5W-30 does have a better cold temp rating than a 10W-30.

Yep Blue as opposed to around 12 cst like PZ and Castrol @ 10.6, I can't imagine seeing any fuel economy difference. What's the point of even trying for the API Starburst on a HM oil? Maybe Valvoline just doesn't think it a relevant expense, even if it qualified in test.

I've noticed the high mileage oils don't have the "energy converserving" remark on the API circle, my question is would an oil like valvoline Maxlife 5W-30 without the energy conserving label still provide better gas mileage/cold start capability than a conventional 10W-30 oil that has the energy conserving label? Thanks
