I was on a Triumph forum today, when I read a recommendation for Marine 4-cycle oil for breaking-in engines. His reasons were simple, marine engines are not subject to as much emission control as automotive oil, (I'm referring to ZDDP and high moly) Also, if this is true and/or a possible alternative oil for antique car engines, why hasn't this been mentioned much before by car magazines.

FYI I'm breaking in a Triumph 1500 engine. These engines prefer a thick oil. Most use GTX 20w/50, some use Pentrite 10w/60 and even straight 40 and 50 weights.

Easier to find the marine oil on sale or clearance probably.
