The German made Mann filters I use on customer's cars seem well made. They fit well and I can't remember seeing a torn one.

I prefer them over the Xengst and Mahle filters we also have.

Why are the Mann/Hummel filters so bad?

The Mann+Hummel ones are made worldwide, from Purolator's plant in Fayetteville, NC to contract manufacturers in China. German Manns are (AFAIK) usually made in Germany or eastern Europe, that's why they're better. What issues have the Hengst ones had? They have always had the best looking GM Ecotec cartridges, looking as good coming out as when they went in (admittedly a small sample size).

I've used several of these interchangeably in my Bluetec, never an issue.

Most of them have been made in Germany or Austria, perhaps once or twice they were stamped Poland or somewhere else.

The most recent OC I decided to try a new brand, "Premium Guard" (see here) and was very impressed with the quality. It was stamped Made in S. Korea. I rarely go a full 10K miles OCI anymore, so I'm not too worried about its longevity because it'll get replaced around 4-5K miles or one year.

Just check louvers on these and open wallet more. He had some points hadn’t heard before.

This video is a joke, & has very little useful information in it at all! No efficiency numbers, just bashing of “cellulose media” filters, ignoring the fact that virtually every mfr. switched to synthetic blend media long ago!
