Major Fire at California Power Plant (world largest Lithium grid back up) Firefighters say best choice "Let it burn"

my uncle has been making recoveries on large lithium batteries that the trucks delivering them have crashed. it’s a dangerous and expensive game transporting and installing these batteries
What were these batteries intended for - fixed or mobile?
I get mobile > but fixed batteries are ideologically driven > engineering be ****ed …

they were being transported for fixed installation here in houston.

Seems like they need some design revisions, for battery temp monitoring and fire containment systems. I'm sure the first nuclear plants weren't the greatest either? Pumped hydro seems like a KISS choice, but that can be messed up too!
https://damfailures.org/case-study/...on of the embankment,place from 2007 to 2010.
1 nuclear accident in the United States
No one hurt with technology from the 1970s

Here is just one lithium back up power supply/ power plant for the California’s grid and as another posted there was actually three fires at that plant in about three years.

The state is a train wreck in electricity delivery. It has to be the worst in the nation.
Just look at the cost it’s customers pay and all they get is a disaster of a system
IMBHO that state is a trainwreck in most of what they do. Those that put California on such a high horse with leading the way to being green/sustainable, technology driven, contributes so much financially...

But the weather is great and the countryside beautiful. California is like that old girlfriend - her good looks hide a lot of flaws.

More like the ex wife whose looks faded before she took everything you had when she left you.

Unfortunately, Nevada is going the same way. The power company has figured out they can still make money on all the green energy scams/failures simply by overcharging the customers for them, regardless of the fact they aren't economically viable even without disasters.

Every time I drive through Nevada I'm always amazed at it's vast, desolate beauty. I think Nevada gets a bad rap from many.

Sue and I need to take our long discussed drive across NV via Hwy 50. Should be awesome!

25 years ago we sold out and left California. We lasted just 26 months before moving back. Californians don't transplant very well.

Where did you go when you left? I had the benefit of the USAF when I left the State for the first time, so I knew of multiple places that were viable to live in retirement without the high taxes.

Colorado.

Even though we lasted just 26 months we found Coloradans to be some of the friendliest, most fun people we've ever met. I cannot speak highly enough of the people and friends we met there.

But the BITTER winter cold and at times VIOLENT summer weather drove us away. The final straw was seeing $40K worth of BRAND NEW landscaping destroyed in just 30 minutes by a summer hail storm.

Fun facts; Colorado has 53 peaks over 14,000 feet. Incredible, eh? Even more incredible is that CO has 384 peaks over 13,000 feet!!!

You know? funny you say that. My daughter went to school with a young family (this was about 10 or less years ago) who moved to SC from CA. The high school my daughter went to was one of the best in the state. Anyway, they had a nice lake front home. Used to drop my daughter off there, the girls would take the jet skis out.
2 years later they moved back to CA.

Next story-
Ok, now we are officially in our "retirement" home. We are friends with the couple across the street. They moved here from CA (this is kind of funny) I tell them I always know when someone is coming from CA, how? Our trash collection is free/part of our taxes, there isnt any recycling. But they pay extra per year for a recycle trashing trash can! .... Anyway, I tease them, if we see a recycle can we know they are from the West Coast. *LOL* There was another couple but younger family down road from us who had one but she cancelled it once she saw the garage truck collecting the regular garbage and recycle in the same truck *LOL*

Im not poking fun but when I read your post I kind of sensed some of what you said!

I find "desolate" peaceful and stress free. My "desolate" even at a young age, growing up on crowded Long Island, my escape was taking my boat into the ocean without any land in sight and fishing. I can relate to that photo the same way. Stress free and peaceful.

Here is an update of sorts from a more local source. I mean, this stuff is real, since the last fires at this place they had a fire suppression that still didnt work well. I mean, my god, that plume is not harmless steam like from a fossil fuel plant.

Got to love the smoke and mirrors excuses that it doesnt "appear" to have affected anyone on the ground. That is laughable. Releasing horrible toxic chemicals into the atmosphere and discounting it. This is CA who wants to ban fossil fuel cars after all. Well guess what? Sooner or later all those toxic fumes settle down on the ground someplace or some state! So someone is affected. More critical thinking lacking in the media and drones who pay attention to it.
