Hello..

Mazda's valve cover gaskets are leaking. In my search for replacements I came across Magnum brand gaskets. Can't find alot of info on them but they are only $18 for a complete set including grommets and tubes. I will probably get OEM or Reinz but was curious if anyone has used this brand before. Their website says that most of their products are made in Illinois or Florida...interesting.

Yeah, I'd just leave it be and let it leak rather than waste $18 on something named after a really big bottle of champagne and still have it leak. Rockauto has the kit for only $62 in Fel-Pro if you only want to do the job once. I'd stay away from Reinz. I used lots of Reinz gaskets because I worked at a Napa and they were convenient to buy even though I knew they were junk. Sure enough most of them turned out to be junk.

Valve cover gaskets aren't complicated. As long as it fits properly i don't see a problem.

I wouldn't take the chance on cheap gaskets. I have had far too many experiences where using a cheap part simply means doing the same job again 1 year later.

Interesting that Reinz gaskets are a problem. Many BMW engines are built with them. Is their aftermarket division completely different from their OEM division?

Found out Nippon Reinz is OEM to the Mazda. Have read only good things about them. There is also Victor Reinz which I have read is also good.

The gaskets that Reinz makes for Napa are garbage, probably one of the worst lines of products that Napa pushes as being "premium".

The gaskets Reinz makes for BMW are most likely made to a much higher quality standard.

That said, gaskets for a Japanese car are usually just made by an Asian OEM supplier and re-packaged as Reinz.

Mainly the gaskets that Reinz manufactures for American cars are the ones that are no good.

So let me get this straight.
You're implying that this brand of gasket is junk based on the name of the company.
That's quite simply the most absurd method of judging a product I've ever seen.
Have you ever seen or used a gasket from this manufacturer.
And most of their products are made in the good ole U S of A,so does knowing that affect your quick judgement of the brand.
Hilarious.

Good Morning guys.

I'm the Director of Engineering for Magnum Gaskets. I recently joined this forum to answer some of the questions and comments that have been posted in recent months.

The Mazda set that shows up on one of the websites doesn't really sell for $17. When you click on the link, it takes you to Amazon, where the price is more realistic.

Please keep in mind that over 90% of Magnum products are made in the USA, and are as good or better than OE or the aftermarket parts .

For many years Magnum's was a major supplier to the major aftermarket gasket brands, so you've probably been using our parts for years, you just didn't know it.

If you have any other questions, let me know. Thanks.

Interesting- how long have you been in business?

The Magnum Gasket line was created in 2011. Magnum's parent company, Modern Silicone Technologies, has been in the automotive gasket business since 1994. Personally, I've been in the gasket engineering business for 35 years.
