Magnefine filters

Are these filters a magnet? How can they filter on an automatic transmission, isn't most of the wear aluminum? Aluminum is not magnetic. Does anybody use these filters? What am I missing? How good are they?

I use one on my 00 Mazda, 01 PSD Ford and my daughters 03 Mazda. They have a magnet, plus they have a regular internal filter. This unit is required by Ford to be installed when a transmission is replaced, by a Ford TSB. For a picture look at this, better than I can explain: Magnefine Filter
