Well, I went from Mobil 1 to Motorcraft blend 5w-20. I've been using Mobil 1 for a while, and I think I might have used Pennzoil synthetic once a while ago. The main reaso I did it was cost, and everyone seems to say that the motorcraft blend is great, as well. Went with a Motorcraft filter, this time, as well. (used m1 before.) Threw in a bottle of gumout regane on 3/4 tank. Like that stuff.
Everything seems to be going well.

I just got back from my sons home in Florida last week. He has a 05 F150 and has been using MC 5-20 but has been going too long on the OCIs. 7-10,000 miles. Kind of gunky around the oil fill hole. Since he was used to 10,000 mile OCIs with M1 in his older Explorer he thought he could do it with the F150 using MC.. He says he is going back to M1 because of the gunk factor. If you do use MC change at 5000 mile OCIs.

didn't someone say that the Trop-artic lacked in a certain area on one of the standard tests??? and if that is the case, could we also assume the Motorcraft "might" too if the two oils do in fact come out of the same factory and have only slight differences in additives (if any)?

Anyone remember what the specific "lacking area" was?

why not alternate between the two? if you change your oil 4 times a year, do M1 in the winter and then do MC in the other seasons

I was trying to bring tot he surface that Trop-artic & Motorcraft are essentially the same oil. So by that logic, "IF" Trop-artic was lacking in any area, then it is likely that the Motorcraft would be too...

I am wanting someone to chime in on this because I believe it was on here that someone said Trop-artic was good in many tests but sub-par in others???

If that is the case, then I was gonna say maybe switching is not in order?
