This OCI difference issue makes me think that we need a "shear calculator" of some sort on this site. Maybe if we had starting viscosities of every oil we can find then we could compare to ending viscosity to get % shear. It would be even better if it could be normalized across multiple oil change intervals. I wonder if we could do something like %shear per 1000 miles or something? Rl_RS4 probably could come up with some way to do that. Ideas/thoughts?

Right, that works for iron but how do we evaluate shear, TBN etc.? Probably can't really. ?

for TBN, % TBN loss/ 1000 miles maybe?
