I just sold my A4 1.8T and picked up a Celica GT-S. I have about 15 quarts of Mobil1 Truck&SUV 5W-40 left over (I was planning on keeping the A4 for a while). The 2ZZ engine uses 10W-30, should I use the M1 or sell it and get 10W-30?
Most would say get the 10w-30 for general use. However, I think T&S would be great to clean up the inside of the "new" Celica....it's used , right?
T&S excels at cleaning. I would do a 4000 mi run, then a 6000 mi run, then switch to a lighter weight. You can mix Mobil 1, but only within the SuperSyn line to keep it the "same". Yeah, the 5w-40 will run well, probally burn a lil more gas, a lil less oil. Maybe look for an oversize filter to trap any dirt and increase capacity. If you car is new, I'd just stick with GF-4 dino.
With a Toyota engine the Mobil EP 10w-30 would do fine. The T&S would be a little thick for that type of engine as in decrease MPG & performance. I've recommended the Amsoil 10w-30(for extended OCI) in Toyota engines cause of the stop and go city type driving most folks have in this area.
Yes!!! A good 5W40 is likely the best oil you could run given your wounderful climate! I agree with TooSlick you could even run a 15W40 or 15W50 or 20W50 and still be fine! 5W40 TSUV should work great for you!
Thanks for all the replies! Yes Junkie, its used (2001 47k miles), I can never get myself to pay for a new car, no matter how nice the salesman is. I dont like the idea of monthly payments and being tied down under warranty.
I'll use the remaining 15 quarts of M1 then switch to a 10W-30. I can live with decrease MPG and performance if it'll clean the engine up.
