Is the PAO content in Mobil1 0w40 so significant that it makes this oil the best choice (say for cars needing 229.5 pr LL-01) ?

POA? 0%

PAO 10-20%

so no.

M1 0w40 is a fully formulated motor oil with a large amount of approvals.

M1 0w40 is unique/was unique in that it contained a decent % of V base oil, presumably POE. Most of the Mobil 1 oils us ANs.

Mobil 1 FS 0W-40, 5W-40, and 5W-50 are still excellent oils. They still use excellent cleaning esters, and probably the 5W-X oils have even more of those. I'm probably going to go back to M1 FS 5W-40 in Santa Fe when I run out of Red Line. It keeps the engine very clean. Base oil choice has more to do with cold flow properties / pumpability than with the lubricity of the oil. This series of motor oils are still relatively cheap for how good they are.

How do you use that in a sentence? Thats a nice POA?

Joking aside odd first post from new member. But hey we were all new sometime.. well except the retreads.
Yeah, I wanted to throw a bit of humor in the mix. But @mckenzie333 shouldn't be worried about Mobil 1 FS 0W-40. It's good stuff and works well. If he lives in a temperate climate, 5W-40 is an even better choice. I used them both with good results.

How do these Mobil 1 FS oils compare to the Mobil 1 ESP oils? Are they different in anyway?

Nop, but it has so strong formulation and wear performance after used like previous Visom and PAO versions. So it's a good 0w40.
