After looking at some fresh/used oil anaysis of the M1 and reading about boron and its protective qualities, can someone give me a quick and dirty on Sythetics (particularly M1) protective properties and how boron plates to and protects the engine.

Thanks!!

Of interest to me at the site was some text on Moly and why it might not work well with certain basestocks if overloaded with it in formulation . Just cruise the site, alot of info to be had there .

Redline maybe?

Thanks Kule for bringing this back up. I found this interesting.

A side benefit of the borates in motor oils and gear lubricants is their action as mild detergents and as acid reducing agents. Their alkili chemistry helps to retain the oil's TBN, or Total Base Number as well.
