the FX45 doesn't seem to like my beloved M1. this is the second OA that shows some sort of bearing issue... i am thinking seriously about either trying Delvac1, or going to a 6k OCI with a good dino.

thoughts?

It looks as though you had a particle streak and it's "healing" your lead has trended down, but I'm not digging the tin that popped up. Pull out the Delvac big guns and see what it can do. It's a beast for wear control.

yep, you hit the nail on the head. that tin focused me really quick. i have a current run of 0w40 in the beast now, but will change to delvac1 at 5k and see where we go. this bloody thing is supposed to last me 200k, but wilna do it at this rate.

It would have been nice if you had a dino UOA in recommended grade to see if these premium synthetics are any improvement for you.

I have noticed that many Nissan engines (including my VQ35DE) started to show increased bearing wear about the same mileage as you're seeing yours.

not quite sure what this would do (the EP that is)? the oil isn't even close to used up at TBN 3.8, and the 0w40 is MB229.5 rated.

in this OC i have had multiple days of below 20F, and spun off the road in an ice storm just south of Des Moines in the end of March. i travel ALOT, and am of the school of thought that "there is no such thing as too thin on startup".

this is where i will be going if i can't get the wear down with Delvac1. after preaching the gospel of synthetics and extended OCI's for years, it would be humbling to finally run up against an engine that just wouldn't do it. OTOH, there are few other VK45DE OAs on the board using ANY oil, so it is hard to figure where these engines ought to be.
