I just noticed this last week at Autozone. They had both the old M1 0W-40 and the new bottled one as well. When I compared them, I noticed a few differences. The star burst has disappeared from the new bottle and some of the numbers are different like pour point has changed from the older one to this new one. Why would they change their formula?

what does it matter? If youre buying that oil, youre buying it because you need the MB 229.5, BMW LL, GM 025-LL-A or B in an ACEA A3 oil.

Those are whats necessary for warranty, not the starburst proof that the oil is decent. The specs above arent given away as easily as the starburst.

If you NEED a starburst oil, you likely dont need those specs, and should consider another oil while in warranty at least.
