As l stated earlier, the one 2X4X8 l bought in 07 was like $2.50.
I sure feel for new home owners today.

And that is wrong. They are two different products.
It would be foolish to use particle board for exterior use. OSB on the other hand holds up better so it is used for roof and wall sheathing.
Builders are using OSB because it is cheaper and the plywood these days is not like the plywood or old. Many manufacturers use cottonwood or other soft woods as the plywood center. In the old days you would have layers of fir which made great plywood.
My father wanted to build another garage this year......no longer doing that.
Instead we are going to take in our own logs we cut to a nearby Amish sawmill and have boards made on an average of 80 cents a board.
We'll have to let them dry and plan on doing the garage next summer instead.
