I have a honda CRX with 265k on the odo and an unknown mileage motor. I replaced the stock motor about 25k miles ago due to my own stupidity. I never thought it would get below freezing in GA in october and had no anti-freeze in the motor while it was out of service. Anyways... the new motor is a slightly stronger vtec motor (d15bvtec) that i bought cheap locally from one of the places that brings in motors from junked japanese cars and they promise "less than 45k miles" as if there is any way to dispute this.. The motor has run fantastic since i bought it but 2 days before I was due for an emissions test it began smoking. A mechanic friend narrowed the problem down to it burning oil. He said it was most likely a valve stem seal leak or perhaps a leaky oil ring on the piston. I have considered replacing the valve stem seals, but this would be difficult with my current work schedule and may not fix the problem. Im not concerned with the motor potentially burning oil either. It puts out so little emissions that im sure Ma Nature wouldnt mind and I check the oil level regularly. Is there any chance that the Lucas product would solve/patch my problem? Perhaps at least enough to pass an emissions test? Is there any proven product that would work better?
Thanks a ton!
I hope this is in the correct forum btw..
