I've had an RJ45/RJ11 crimping tool for years. I have never lubricated it. I put a few drops on the pivot points and other areas that could have metal to metal contact.

Is this bad? I would not think it would be as a lot of crimpers are shipped with oil all over them.

Thanks.

Its all you really need. I have moved to wax based Dry lube for things like this. The carrier evaporates and leaves a lite wax on the pivots.

I've never lubed mine, but have probably only crimped about 1000 ends since new and probably only 10 in the last few years. At this rate it will wear out in a couple millennia.

1/10 drop 3-in-1 oil about every ten years should keep it functioning like new nearly indefinitely as long as you don't abuse it.

The RJ-45 connectors you are crimping? Are they for CAT6 cable? With a CAT6 cable the requirements are stringent and I have gone to passthrough connectors requiring a new crimper.
