I've used Lubegard Red in a few automatic transmissions with good results... now I'm thinking about using Lubegard Red in the Allison transmission on my 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax.

Lubegard's tech support advised that I use 2 bottles. A major Diesel and transmission performance specialist also said that it was a good choice.

Any comments?

Lubegard's tech support has a reputation for being knowledgeable.

I've never heard a negative comment on Lubegard Red, and it seems to work in everything it's put in. It should work fine in an Allison.

I have it in an Explorer transmission, and plan to pour it in a Jeep soon.

I think the mix recommendation is about 1 oz per 1 qt of fluid......

Boy, this forum is great!

I learned a lot of good info about Allison fluid options.

As much as Lubegard has helped other transmissions, I think I'll probably go the Transyd or Amsoil/Allison option

Ditto. Good idea even when using full syn. ATF IMHO.

I just spoke with Pat , a tech at Lubegard, and this guy really knows his stuff!

SO I'm now really confident in Lubegard and I have my maintenance schedule for the Allison Series 1000.

Change the spin on filter immediately at 8000 miles.

Add 2 bottles of Lubegard Red.

Change fluid again at 25000 miles and switch to either Castrol TranSynd or Mobil Delvac Synthetic ATF

Add 2 bottles of Lubegard Red.

Don't know how often to service the 2 trans filters, yet.
