Lube Gard ATF Protectant

Hi guys, I have a high mileage 93 Nissan Maxima (automatic), and I was reading all the claims on the Lube Gard website how 90% of all transmission failures is because of heat damage. The FSM asks for Dexron IIE. On the last drain & refill I went to the dealer and bought their Matic D fluid. Would there be any benefit to me adding this product to the system, or in fact could it do something bad?

LubeGard is good stuff. It's great if you want to refresh your hydraulic fluids until you can afford a flush and fill. Advance Auto in TN is blowing the stuff out at ridiculous sale prices. I bought everything in the bin at a quarter each! Normally around $15 or so.

Matic-d is nothing special. Its such a great fluid that several Nissans require Nissans transmission protectant(hint very similar). If you plan on using a pathetic ATF, then feel free to use the lubegard. With all the great ATFs out there, another option is to upgrade to a better blend or full-synth ATF.
