Hi guys, I have a high mileage 93 Nissan Maxima (automatic), and I was reading all the claims on the Lube Gard website how 90% of all transmission failures is because of heat damage.

The FSM asks for Dexron IIE. On the last drain & refill I went to the dealer and bought their Matic D fluid.

Would there be any benefit to me adding this product to the system, or in fact could it do something bad?

I added it to my ATX on my Mazda6, and noticed smoother shifts. I also have a cooler on it, which also helps with the heat issues.

LubeGard is good stuff. It's great if you want to refresh your hydraulic fluids until you can afford a flush and fill.

Advance Auto in TN is blowing the stuff out at ridiculous sale prices.

I bought everything in the bin at a quarter each! Normally around $15 or so.

Matic-d is nothing special. Its such a great fluid that several Nissans require Nissans transmission protectant(hint very similar).

If you plan on using a pathetic ATF, then feel free to use the lubegard.

With all the great ATFs out there, another option is to upgrade to a better blend or full-synth ATF.
