LS1 - M1 0w40 vs AC Delco D1 Gen3 5w30

Hey guys

I can get a good deal from my local GM store for the ac delco oil. Currently run the m1 0w40. car is used for summer cruising and the odd WOT pull. I change oil every fall with about 4000mi of driving.

I’m in Canada so Delco PN are :
19432446 DEXOS1 GEN3 FULL SYN 5W30 ACDELCO 1L

19432449 DEXOS1 GEN3 FULL SYN 5W30 ACDELCO 4.73L

Based on bottles looks to be M1 produced?

Any insight or suggestions is appreciated.

The LS1 likes an oil with an HTHS of around 3.5, especially if you like to go full throttle once in a while. M1 0w40 would be the better choice over the AC Delco 5w30, which would likely have an HTHS of only 3.0 to 3.1.

When I had my LS1 Corvette I mostly ran German Castrol 0w30 which had an HTHS of 3.5. And I currently use M1 ESP 5w30 in my C7 Corvette. I like the extra margin of safety that the higher HTHS number will provide.

Either one of those choices would be fine as they both have an HTHS of 3.5 or higher
