Hi. Its about my van again. lol. When I press down on the accelerator my oil pressure guage goes to almost nothing. When i let off the accelerator the oil pressure guage goes back up. Is this something that needs immediate attention? If so what could be causing it?

You check your oil level? my moms blazer does the low oil psi if you floor it and its over a qt low...

Start with the simple checks before you spend a lot of money lol.

Sounds like the action of a vacuum gauge rather than a oil pressure. I would get a mechanical gauge and screw it in and see what pressure it shows. Could be a bad sender. Replace the filter? Odd things can happen with a defective filter.

The oil pressure should rise and fall pretty much directly with the RPM. Load should not effect the oil pressure much at all.

As another post suggested, check the oil level first.

with a metallic knocking noise and low oil pressure, it is very possible it is your internal engine components making noise.

As others have said, A/C compressor is also a possibility. Either way, it needs to be checked immediately by a professional.

Turning the defroster blower on causes the voltage to go down. The reading was like 3/4 after we bought a new battery for it a while back. Now its reading half. Its not really a metallic knocking. Its more like a scraping. We had the lifters adjusted because it was knocking. Our theory on that was that the mechanic didn't take into consideration going from a cork gasket to rubber gasket when he worked on it. We are going to replace the alternator this evening.

Sorry for the multiple posts. This phone can be aggrivating. Turning the lights on doesn't affect the reading of the oil pressure gauge though. I'm ready to take a shot gun to both of my vehicles. Now the rear brake is grinding on the van too. lol I just gotta keep in mind - THIS TOO SHALL PASS! LOL.
