Hi guys, looking at the purchase of a very low mileage Jaguar XJL. It's a 2008, with roughly 35k miles.

It's the naturally aspirated V8 and relatively proven trans.

Beyond minor bits, is there anything that should have me worried? Air suspension etc? I can't find any info of the systems it might have.

The car is in excellent shape for just under 20k. I know there's a potential for issues with the complexity of the larger sedans, but wondering if anyone has direct experience.

Thanks for your time.

My uncle has one and it is one good looking and fine riding automobile.. It will most likely have electrical gremlins like most jag's, and all the other old/unused car stuff you'd expect.

I don't know abut 20k, this is one of those oddballs's that's going to be worth what someone's willing to pay. If it feels right to you then go for it.

I miss Jaguar's that look like Jaguars..

Money pit alert. Trade one of those cars in your sig in on a new car.

Way, way, way too much money for a 20 year old British car, regardless of mileage.

The suspension bits on those wear out extremely quickly, plan on doing all the control arms before 50k.

Thanks guys, keeping in mind it's 20k Canadian.

Roughly $1500 USD 😆

Joking aside, it's probably 14k at the moment.

Thanks meep. My Dad and I are both quite mechanically compitant, and we've got some good resources.

The engine and trans seem to be really well sorted out from what I've read.

The air struts can also be swapped for alternatives by the sounds of it.

Time will tell.

Pay particular attention to the comments from people who have never owned, driven or sat in a Jaguar; they are the true marque experts.

Without the brand name involved it’s nearly twenty years old and $20k irrelevant to mileage and condition. Research used market as Jag brand and luxury Euro makes typically have horrid resale at best.

I know nothing about owning one just trying to consider fluidity of ownership without losing your shirt. I am guess you would lose more then half by flipping and slow sale(weak market) if it turns sour . The purchase price may not matter to your situation.

If you are considering this take it a shop that is experienced in Euro and hopefully Jag and pay for pre purchase inspection. That is pennies on dollar. They’ll see far more on lift then you’ll ever see .
