Hey guys,

I have a Toyota Prado 2007 with 4 cylinder 2.7 engine, (TRJ120L - 4 Cylinder 2.7 - 2TR-FE) This engine is exactly the same as the Tacoma.

My car does not have a LOW Coolant Warning Light.

Just recently I was checking my oil level and to my surprise there was no coolant on the coolant reservoir and that way I found I have a leak on the thermostat housing.

Do you know if there is available a LOW Coolant Sensor that I can install on the Coolant Reservoir and wire it to a warning light inside the car? Or maybe a aftermarket one?

I just want to have an early warning before the engine overheat and my HG goes FUBAR

Have any of you have installed aftermarket one on your Tacoma or similar?

Thx guys,

Isaac

As you can see there is not low coolant sensor

I understand your need but your logic is wrong.

You can be full of coolant and still overheat.

You can be low on coolant and not overheat.

Monitoring a temperature gauge is still the best method.

Yes, you can add a warning light for the temp gauge. You will either need a second temp sensor or easier to install a single 2 stage/ 2 contact sensor designed for the application.
