loud hydraulic lifters, thicker?? i know i know......

5.0L production short block w/ alum heads and intake. 500 miles on motor. Broke in w/ a straight 30wt. put in 10w30 and 3oz of ARX. Had valves adjusted.

question? Are roller motors just kinda loud or should I step up to a thicker oil. I noticed the ARX did actually make it even louder than it was. I'm confident all adjustments are correct. Running 91 w/ FP. Runs great (It rips!!!). Here are pics of the car if you are curious.. Begining to end.

usually you dont want to run any thicker than a 30wt in a 5.0. what kinda cam is in it and are they stock lifters?

The cam is an Explorer high torque hydraulic roller camshaft that came with the motor.

Intake .422", Exhaust .448"

Intake 256°, Exhaust 266°

116° Lobe Separation

Any thoughts????

found a loose rocker!!!!

Ok now the last time I adjusted Valves was on a Toyota and I could see the cam....oh boy this looks fun...roller cam roller roclers hydro lifters. just bring it down and gap it right???????

Well after a crash course on zero lash adjustments and a really messy process (did em while it was running) I replaced all the retainers with moly lock types. The crush type were loosening. Quiet as a mouse now......
