Looking at an 05 Chrysler Pacific for my father.

Well my best bud is a mechanic so he'd be coming along to check it out. He's not really big on dodge/chrysler but he'd be willing to offer his neutral(as best) opinion on it as possible. Both our fathers were child hood friends overseas so he does his best to keep my dad's interests at heart with fair opinion.

As long as the transmission has been serviced, then I wouldn't hesitate. They are quiet, comfortable and quick vehicles. Dad had a 2004 as a lease vehicle and liked it... it just wasn't good for a family of 5 teenagers (at the time).
