Looking at a used Toyota Yaris/Transmission

So we're looking for a compact commuter car and considering a Yaris hatchback. I know they're a rebadged Mazda 2, but with Mazda's known reliability, it's not surprising. The Yaris has a 6-speed automatic trans. When I looked at the specs, I saw it takes Toyota WS fluid, which lends me to believe it has an Aisin transmission. Anyone know about this? I'd rather have a durable 6-speed Aisin than any CVT.

I believe all the 6 speed are CVT except the manual. The older ones that were 4 speed I believe were a regular transmission.

Yes 6 speed auto and not a cvt. 2020 is the last year for them.

Yeah I believe all the Yaris have a CVT at least that I am aware of but I’m also not a expert on transmissions either.

A Continuously Variable Transmission has no fixed speeds, any that can be felt are programed to make it feel more like a "normal" automatic.

my second car is an ex-hertz, french-made, original-toyota, 2014 yaris l. i bought it in 2016 at 42k mi, now 65k mi. absolutely love it. the toyota yaris is roomier and airier than the rebadged mazda2. either version would be great.
