Looking at a cheap commuter!

Cheap commuter to me means spending $4000 on upper mileage comfortable car that achieves reasonable MPG.

$1200 sounds like too much work or money required to keep it going. Or is the plan drive and throw away if something comes up?

Thanks guys, agreed, I ditches the swift/aveo idea.

I'm looking at this focus more seriously. They seem to rack up the Mile's, and rockers are VERY common to go around here on the focus.

At 100k miles and $1000 I dont mind investing some sweat equity.

If it's not worth looking at there are some lower mileage 2002 civics for around 2k.

You should get an Echo. They are awesome cars. Plus, in Canada, you can even get an Echo hatchback (Toyota didn't sell the Echo hatch in the US), and I found a couple in Toronto on Kijiji. If that is too far, there are a few Echo sedans closer to you.

Both have about 140k miles:
Silver 2004 Echo 4-door hatch for $1200
Blue 2005 Echo 2-door hatch for $1600

Thanks guys. As an update, I found a clean 2001 Civic with only 85k Miles for 2 grand. I'm happy!

It came out of nowhere but works well.
