You need to know if the engine is in good mechanical shape (no coolant, fuel or silica intrusion). If that were true, then 16,000km OCIswould likely be safe. However, the only way to know that these contaminants are in control, is to test the lube. You're kind of in a pickle here. You want to make a safe decision, but you're not in a position to willingly pay for the info.
