Longer oil filter?

I have a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 HD. It has the 6.0 V8. I have a Purolator L 12222 filter for it, but it could easily take a longer filter for extra capacity if one is available. Anyone know if there is a longer version of the Purolator L 12222?

Who makes the carquest filter?
Premium Guard. check some of my cut and pastes. this is one of the carquest premiums.

What problem you looking to solve with an oversize filter?
No actual problem, it just seems that a bigger/longer filter will add a bit more oil capacity and more filter media. Seems like a good thing. Is there a downside to my thinking on this?

Oil Filter makers generally do not warranty their oil filters that are not cataloged for a particular application. If in the rare event you have a oil filter failure that causes engine failure or damage, the oil filter maker has an out.

I will not be a hypocrite and say I have never done a over size filter run before, but I have never considered the marginal increase in filter media or extra few ounces of oil to be measurable of any significance of increasing vehicle life.

Oversize filters were all the rage here in the early days of BITOG but basically died out as it really was not solving anything except for a few rare applications and only feeds into ones thinking that doing something no matter how minute must be better than doing nothing. AKA, we like to play engineer.

How will this add more oil capacity the sump still holds the same amount of oil? Any additional oil added would just be absorbed by the filter media. It won’t filter any better.

If you search 10575 in this forum there is a lot written. It received a larger bypass pressure rating and is suitable for 2014 and above LS engine but the 2013 was still supposed to use the 10060. The bypass pressure was also discussed and you can make your own decision on that one. I use the 10060 on my 2008 6.0 with 260,000 miles on the engine.
