I have a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 HD. It has the 6.0 V8. I have a Purolator L 12222 filter for it, but it could easily take a longer filter for extra capacity if one is available. Anyone know if there is a longer version of the Purolator L 12222?
Who makes the carquest filter?i oversize to the 22500 size on all GM products that take the m22x1.5 filter. Fram FE10575, or a carquest premium 84502 would be my choice however.

No actual problem, it just seems that a bigger/longer filter will add a bit more oil capacity and more filter media. Seems like a good thing. Is there a downside to my thinking on this? What problem you looking to solve with an oversize filter?
Oil Filter makers generally do not warranty their oil filters that are not cataloged for a particular application. If in the rare event you have a oil filter failure that causes engine failure or damage, the oil filter maker has an out.No actual problem, it just seems that a bigger/longer filter will add a bit more oil capacity and more filter media. Lot's of members here still use an over-sized filter if available.Oversize filters were all the rage here in the early days of BITOG but basically died out …
How will this add more oil capacity the sump still holds the same amount of oil? Any additional oil added would just be absorbed by the filter media. It won’t filter any better.it just seems that a bigger/longer filter will add a bit more oil capacity and more filter media.
