Wondering were has JohnBrowning been. Always liked his posts, but his listing shows he hasn't posted since January 2010! Hope all is okay.

Any others that have been absent for prolonged time?

Obbop!!!

Most of those I miss, are deceased or banned.

FTR, I liked JB's business turnaround stories.

there are not many of us really old timers that still are all that active. I admit I am mostly just lurking in the shadows

I know most get tired of explain the same things over and over again and then seeing the same debates getting hashed out over and over again. They simply quit posting and become a lurker. I know how that goes because I feel the same way most of the time now days and my posting has dropped of drastically. Most of the threads I'm part of now have nothing to do with oil.

I think what happens here,as with most forums,we all start out as newbs, post and learn what we need to learn, and then become lurkers. I seldom post anymore unless it's a Nissan Z related post

I think some posters got tired of the 'in before the lock' childishness. Banning people for a week for posting something political etc.

Haven't seen Whitewolf post in a while, his posts were always very informative, even when people did the finger in their ear while screaming approach to hearing his opinion.

I knew a couple of people who were here from a Ford site..I PM'd them and asked them why they disapperaed..Their answer was a lot of really good posts got buried very quickly by a lot junk/troll posts.

They still come here to read cetain posts but [for the most part] do not or very rarely post.

Maybe they got tired of all the Pennzoil vs Mobil 1 vs Redline vs Amsoil threads ?

Maybe they got tired of the 'one upper' type of people that have to argue over something so silly and unimportant ?

Maybe it was the butt kissing and self promoting some people do ?

x2

Do you think some may have quit posting only to come back under a new name. Dragboat did that when he was banned many years ago. How many remember a member named Motorbike (previously Dragboat, and I think there was a third name). He hasn't been around for about 6 years it seems. Not even showing up in the member list anymore. I didn't know names got removed. My son says Undummy is no longer listed either.

ROFLCOPTER! He was a really nice guy. Just a bit over the top on some (many?) things. My wife and I have had dinner with him.

Exactly. He was a very passionate person (and hey, he wasn't even German.... MarkStock reference...) and that sometimes rubbed people the wrong way because often he was over the top with it. But it didn't make him a bad guy. He'd give you the cloths off his back if you needed them.
