Can someone post the link to the PDS for the Belgian syntec? I believe it's called Magnatec in Europe...

Hehe, Dr.T is almost running a 5w30 in his BMW!

Not only that, but Magnatec is a Group III/PAO blend.

Is it really the same thing as GTX Magnatec in Europe? If so, the specs are:
code:

Visc at 100 st. C: 14,25 mm2 /s

Visc at 40 st. C: 90,2 mm2 /s

Visc index: 163

TBN: 11,6 mgKOH/g

Pour Point: - 45 st. C

Flash Point: 200 st. C

Density at 15 st. C: 852,0 kg/m3

That's correct. Kind of like the regular Castrol Syntec in the US.

But do we know for sure that BC = Magnatec? The reason I ask is because there is another 5w-40 Castrol oil sold at some dealership called the 505.01:

EDIT: Wait, never mind. That's a diesel engine oil, so that's probably not it.

Here's the spec sheet for the Belgian oil

SAE 5W-40: is engineered specifically to meet the Volkswagen engine warranty requirements, exceeding VW 502 00 and 505 00. Exceeds all car and light truck manufacturer's warranty requirements for the protection of gasoline, diesel and turbocharged engines where API SL, SJ, SH, CF or CD is recommended. Porsche approved and also exceeds European ACEA: A3, B3, B4, MB 229.3, MB 229.1, BMW LL-98. Meets the engine protection requirements of Corvette GM 4718M, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes Benz and ILSAC GF-3 for API Certified Gasoline Engine Oils.

And the VOA of the Belgian oil

Thanx...I just couldn't find the **** thing.

That's funny Patman, but I won't be running a 5-30...I did that already with the BMW synth...

And I don't have a problem with the group III thing at all...

Maybe the stuff is the TXT Softec 5-40? I need to go back and check the bottle...

But my point is, all you need is for this oil to thin a tiny little bit, or get some fuel dilution, and it will turn into 5w30

I just like poking fun at ya since you hate 5w30 so much.

I definitely want to see a UOA on this stuff in your car!

TXT Softec doesn't come in 5w40, just 5w30. And TXT Softec is Group III, too.
