Found another one that was intentionally almost forgotten about.
I've got a Cummins 6.7L common rail, 3 years old, in-service for 2 years, oil is saftykleen put in there 2 years ago, 15w-40 (the best stuff on earth), oil filter is a rusty top, 80% painted over fleetguard LF16006. Application is standby power generator.
I saw it and figure surely I can't be looking at an original factory oil filter. Oil filter was on there stupid tight. Turned it 180 degrees and saw it, the filter has factory under spray on it allows the label to be seen. The rust on the top kinda gave it away too.
I pulled the records. No service whatsoever besides topping it off with oil, coolant.

Ima cut it open next chance I get. Still playing 4th of July catch-up.
I'm not expecting to find much in there.

SafetybKleen ain’t “the best stuff on earth”. Tell us your “definition” of best. Reclaimed, used swill, or……

Filter autopsy needs posted.

I don't see anyone running hpl or amsoil for 700 to 3,400 hours so I am forced to the conclusion that Safetykleen 15w-40 is the best diesel engine oil for diesel engines out there.
Reclaim oil is just the cheapest, at best its fair condition oil and suitable for use in an engine for another hour before it becomes combustion grade.

WWilson ran HPL oils for over 30k miles. We don’t go by “hours” here; miles or km only. Even at my work we don’t use hours.

Safety Kleen oil is just another serviceable oil.

Reclaimed oil is for CSOB types too lazy to hunt down clearances like YSC and AAP clearances.

30k miles is still only around a thousand hours. So it's a third to a half of the saftykleen all time records and it costs at least 3 times as much. For 3x the price it better be able to do a thousand hours.

I buy all the clearance oil I can find thats 30wt or thicker.
70% to 80% of the clearance oil i find is 20wt pcmo. I could use 20wt as flush oil but it's still $10 to $20 a gallon, reclaim oil is always free ninety-nine and makes one less gallon of used oil to dispose of.
All my mobil1 75w-90 an 140wt oils are clearance sales. All my 20w-50 Castrol GTX classic car oil is clearance.
My AW32 hydraulic fluid in my tractor and log splitter are clearance and found on the side of the road. I found a half gallon of Aw46 on the side of the road this morning, my log splitter is a bit low I'll probably dump it in there. I'm currently out of AW hydraulic fluid otherwise.
My mystic jt6 grease was found on the side of the road.
Im set on 15w-40, I can buy as much or as little Royal 15w-40 as I want for $12.46 a gallon. That's cheaper than most name brands get on clearance.
All my SA rated 20 and 30wt air compressor oils are clearance sale oil from tractor supply.
Any clearance 30wt pcmo oil just gets used up immediately.

The main event.

Bonus event:
I cut out some of the filter pleats, wrapped them in a wad of McDonald's napkins and squeezing them in my vice.
We'll see what they look like later today or tonight hopefully.
Is the media metal screen backed? I looked that filter up on the FleetGuard website and it’s identical to the LF3894 Stratapore and LF16035 which has the fluted can.

Is this your under maintained equipment or something you’re servicing for a company that poorly maintains there equipment, just curious?

Not buying the 30k talk. No one here including you will ever use an oil 30k-40k cause they are scared. It’s been done here by few members. Hours don’t count.

We don’t pay squat for our Safety Kleen oil at my work
