Umm...it's a totally different car?
If the Fusion came in a 5-door hatch/wagon configuration, then this would be a legitimate question.
As far as leather interior being out of place in a hybrid, I have to say as a dog owner who travels with his dog a lot, I'm not going to own a car with fabric interior. Even if he's in the back, the hair (and dog smell) will make it's way into the cabin. For me this a non-negotiable thing.
I really like this car. Now that the Prius will be coming in a wagon though, it'll be interesting to compare the two.
If Ford came out with a Fusion wagon (or imported the Mondeo TDCI), then that would probably be my next car. I don't see that happening, so one of these two will probably fit the bill.
I'll be honest, I don't really see why people insist that buying a hybrid is some sort of lifestyle statement, or claim this isn't "true to the hybrid ideal" or whatever... I just want a car that can haul a lot of stuff, gets good gas mileage, is cheap to operate, reliable and is pleasant to sit in. The CT200H seems like it has potential to fit the bill.
I suspect I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
