I hear some of Volvo models are are Chinese manufactured even for Stateside consumption. Never followed up on that. Years ago I wanted that little C30 turbo hatchback FORVolvoD. Seemed like the purrfect pocket rocket.
My favorite all time car is the 850 T5-R.
I currently love any wagon touched by Polstar especially the V60
Both seen here:
Long ago i owned a 740 Turbo with iPd extras
It was a tank. I drove it from Miami, Fl to Pheonix, AZ with my Dad to give it to my sister with 140K miles on the original motor and turbo. She sold it with 300K miles 8 years later. That was a fabulous car. That trip means a lot to me. Great memories with my Pop.
Volvo is now owned by a Chinese Company, not sure where they are produced. Some Cadillacs, the Ford Focus in 2018 and one of the Buicks are manufactured in China.Ford is supposedly shifting the Focus from Mexico to China.
This one time I owned a newer (at the time) S60 sedan with NA and stick trans.
Worst car ever!
Was wishing I sold it from the point shortly after purchase when I attempted to drive it spiritedly.
Loved my RWD V90 wagon (dressed up end-of-production 960)...hated the FWD C70 convertible I owned. The inline six on the V90 was coupled with a stout Aisin automatic. What a tremendous car.
I would be hard-pressed to get a new Volvo, although the interior design in the S90 and V90 and XC90 is stunning...the wood trim and amber leather is mind-blowing. The last time I was at the dealer, they had a cloth seat/no sunroof S60 on the showroom with a $34k sticker price...why not just get an Accord LX for $23K and save $10 grand?!?
Non-luxury brands have come so far with equipment levels and whatnot that the luxury and near-luxury brands are getting squeezed out of existence. What is Volvo in the US? Surely not luxury, I would define them as near-luxury along with Acura and maybe Buick?!?

I had a 98 V90. DArk green with light tan leather. Great car. Had a slight valve tick but never burned or lost a drop of anything. Roomy and comfortable with real rain gutters for my surfboard racks.
