Leinenkugel’s Chippewa Falls brewery is scheduled to close on Friday. The original owners' Jake and **** Leinenkugel tried to negotiate a buyback of the brewery but their offer to negotiate was rejected by Molson Coors.

It is not uncommon for local/ region brands that sell out to national/ global brands to be bought back later by the original owners. But in Molson/ Coors defense- Jake and **** Leinenkugel sold out and cashed out. I suspect Molson Coors sees value in the marketing name of Leinenkugel, but care little about where the beer is brewed or the quality of the beer.

Dang. I have been there, and I don't get to the upper Midwest much!

Where are they going to make the beer? At some factory where they make 55 other beers?

It is sad and a blow to that small town. We've been there several times during hockey tournaments in the winter. It sure was a fun little afternoon adventure.

Just my $0.02

Many craft breweries in the milwaukee area are closing or being bought up many of them that are I'm not surprised this is a trend across the nation as the market is shifting for various reasons.

It's unfortunate but I saw this coming many years ago. Dale from Oscar Blues sold his brewery a few years ago. The craft beer market has fallen flat on sales and even dipped a couple of percent last year
