leftover wax damaged paint

good morning,

i waxed car with turtlewax hard shell wax and left a bit in the crevices and panel edges. afterwards i noticed the paint had flaked off near the panel edges were the wax was left. why did this happen? is the paint not good? or the wax harmful?

Whatever the case that wax will not be harmful to properly applied paint.

Wax cannot damage paint, at least not in the manner you described. I think you inadvertently exposed a poor paint job.

Looks more like sun damage that was waxed over.

Looks like a repaint from the photographs. Lots of orange peel. Weather stripping looks real old. Looks like overspray on the corner rubber as well. Plus scuffing from sanding gives another clue.
That's a paint prep problem, not a wax problem.
