Check your carb jets. A retired guy around the corner from me works on outdoor equipment showed me how to clean the carb jets. He uses a welder tip cleaner tool but a small sewing needle can work. Some jets have two holes some have three.

Stabil Fix works wonders in lawn equipment. Just pour some in with a fresh tank of gas. Helped out my old flathead Briggs numerous times. I also spray gumout carb cleaner right down it's throat when it's running. New and properly gapped plugs are a must also.

Yes that’s my go to cleaning method, small torch tip files work great at getting the jets cleaned out. Then some sea foam added to the fuel tank to get the remaining varnish/build up cleaned out.
