Although the writer of the story seems to think 5-10 years/100k is good for a new vehicle, proves hes talking out of his arse. This is still a pretty cool story.


I think most people are still content with 100kmiles on a vehicle. They may be moving towards beliving 150k is max life; but I think the old stigma is there. I know my coworker is astounded that I have 247kmiles on my VW, and wishes he could get life like that out of a vehicle.

Plus, it's a story. Nothing like a good contrast to wake the readers up.
 
145,000 miles is the average but that includes cars that are totaled, improperly maintained, rust out or have a freak major mechanical failure.
