Kreen is kool

I recently used Kreen for the first time and am very impressed. On my old 7.3 IDI I've had a light tick that I think was a sticky valve--sometimes the idle would be rough and the exhaust didn't sound right. I did try a sludge dose of AutoRx for about 1500 miles with no discernable change but this still could have helped overall. Fresh oil change and filter for a few hundred miles and I came across Kreen on this site so I figured I'd give it a try. Following the directions for an engine flush I added the whole 32oz to the 11 quarts of oil and let the engine idle for about 60 minutes. At the 40 minute mark I noticed the tick started to come and go rather than remaining constant. Each time the tick disappeared the engine would smooth out and sound great. I drained the hot oil and refilled with Delvac 1300. Now the tick will still come back and then fade away but the improvement from 60 minutes of flushing is pretty impressive. To hopefully finish this off I added HPL Engine Cleaner.
So, although this is only 1 anecdotal experience I would certainly consider Kreen if you are looking at an engine flush as opposed to longer term slow cleaning. Also, I reached out to Kano Labs regarding a ratio of Kreen to oil and the reply stated 1oz-1.5oz per quart.

So, using the 1.5oz./qt., you essentially "double dosed" it.

How did the hot oil look when you drained it?
The oil was certainly very black but an old diesel engine makes the oil black very quickly. I can't say whether or not the oil was thinned out much because it was at full operating temperature. I spoke with someone else who had run the double dose for a full week of driving with no ill effects but YMMV. In the future I will likely do an occasional flush right before an oil change. And importantly, Kreen made the exhaust very stinky but perhaps that was in part because I have a slight valve issue.
