From an old Craftsman w/ 25hp Kohler I'm fixing up for my sister. Unknown age and hours. No bypass valve.

You can kind of see the two sets of holes in the base plate (through the outside plate hole at 2 o'clock)., which is on combo valve style. Need a photo of the other side of the base plate to see it better.

Typical first-ish generation ecore using a combo valve and polyester endcaps. Not my fav but likely fine for an OPE application. However, for what OPE filters go for, one can get automotive application with silicone adbv, standard bypass for less money. ST3614 for ~$3 be very similar to topic. MP adds silicone adbv.

Thanks for c&p.

There's an STP S3614 on it now.

I have never seen a base plate bypass on a CHAMP, do you have a link to any good photos? I thought all E core had the two plates, All the ones I have seen do: One for gasket retention and the main one for ADBV seating and center outlet hole thread forming and structure.
I cant envision how it would work.

Also, what is that grey circular tab on the assembly leaf shim - where the bypass poppet would normally be?

Not saying it ain't so. I am just trying to understand the assembly and function.

I'm curious if the AZ STP S3614 same as Super Tech ST3614 which is very similar to or same as topic. Next time I'm by AZ I'll look at it. I should have added the Super Tech MP series in addition to silicone adbv has a separate bypass too.

Again, topic looks like it got the job done, just not my favorite with the combo valve.

The base plate (not the very thin sheet metal plate on the very outside of the base plate with the big holes) has a series of two hole patterns in it.

Interesting. I didn't even notice that. was wondering how that worked.

The filter is at least consistent.
This came off my Kohler 20KW genset Tuesday.

What went back in and on yours? Thank You

Same filter -

It came with part of a "maintenance package" which is basically ripoff but guarantees expedited support- which I had to use once when the Xfer switch failed to switch back to the grid upon power restoration - turned out to be a loose wire, but the company was there within an hour to diagnose it at 11PM on a Sunday night.

Running on NG this thing runs really clean so Im not going to even bother upgrading it so something better right now.
