"""This is Kelsey. She is 16 years old. When she apologized for the more than long wait for our coffees, I asked, “Understaffed?” She said, “Extremely. I’m the only one here today.” So today I honor the Kelsey’s of the world, working their behinds off so we can keep going as a society.
(There was one person in the back running the drive-thru. Kelsey was not completely alone but was running the front end alone. I mention this just because people are concerned for her safety. She ran the front and all by herself during a very busy afternoon. No one was available to help her. She did a fantastic job"""

Thank you Kelsey!

I tried to get a coffee this morning at our Krispy Kreme. The dining room was closed, drive through only and it was wrapped around the building. Same for the McDonald's across the street. So no coffee for me.

I am sure Kelsey is busy at school and working. Wow, good for her! At 16, I imagine her work hours are limited.
Maybe DD should hire FT workers? My grand niece worked there and they limited hours to keep benefits down. 15 to 20 hours per week, I believe.
I worked after school. Before school I had a morning paper route. Wasn't so bad...
She would be safer in a mask. Stay safe Kelsey!

Thanks to all of the servers who are overworked and underpaid for it.
I realize that during this pandemic, restaurants etc. have fewer employees to serve a greater amount of customers and it isn't easy. Especially those customers who don't understand anything else other than their own needs/wants and who can be very demanding during their wait(which is longer than before). Be patient & thankful. Offer gratuity for the servers hard work and when your order is in fact correct.

When the well runs dry, bank accounts dwindle and no more gov't stimulus $ being given out, people will have to get back to work. Hopefully the child tax "credit" being deposited every month will expire and will get back to a tax credit. A credit that can be claimed again on a tax form for income made while working. The handouts have been going on long enough.

Speak for yourself. I absolutely love getting that deposit each month. Found money.

From what I read this is just and advance of the credit you will have gotten at tax filing next year for 2021 income.
So will it be "Lost money" then? Asking an not knowing for sure.

I don't have any children. I do have a Bumper Sticker that says:
" I paid for the Education of your A+
Student at Swazey Middle School
"

Half up front this year by way of monthly cash deposits, the second half you take as a credit against 2021 taxes. No lost money - all good!

I don't have an A+ student, they don't do grades like that in elementary school anymore, but imagine:

1) replace education with training
2) replace A+ student with veterans
3) replace Swazey Middle School with Army, Navy, Air Force, National Guard

What would you think the reaction would be like? Are you taking credit in someone else's A+ grade? or are you offended that someone else got A+ but not you? or are you offended that you have to pay for public school?

So who paid for your public education? Maybe our public education should add decency into the curriculum.

Next time, find a bumper sticker that says "Proud sponsor of Swazey Middle School" instead.

We have Krispy Kreme in a convenience store here. I can't believe the prices! Like Jay Leno said about Starrbux, "Prices are so high they should throw sex in with it."

Must be a Utah thing. Prices here are comparable to Dunkin and other donut shops. Of course KK has been in this area as long as I can remember (I'm 73). If you are getting them in a convenience store you aren't getting the real Krispy Kreme experience. You haven't lived until you pass a Krispy Kreme shop with the "Hot Donuts" sign flashing red, pull in and get one while it is still hot. It will melt in your mouth!

To me, it appears to be a change in culture and not just the handouts excuse for not having enough staff.

I worked in a restaurant from age 14 to 19 and I feel I could have been better served trying harder in school, and making professional connections, internships, etc, than making four bucks an hour.

I ended up pretty good been working a professional job for 15 years and running, but college age kids in upper/middle class really don't work they don't need to.

That's why I walked into a Mcdonalds for the first time in two years on Sunday, the clerk tells me they are eight people short. None of the self service kiosks are working, no ketchup, no receipt paper, and nobody knows what to do.

I wish. When I looked at them here it was $1.49 for one chocolate with sprinkles.

That is not a good argument, PandaBear And now you are calling me indecent?

The federal govt gives bennies to those having and raising children. I have none. I pay a handsome fee for the local education- actually a very dear fee. And continue to do so in my retirement with no targeted offset in my tax. I've paid approx $150,000.00 to the State
just for local education since I've lived in my humble log cabin on a hill in the woods. Its a lot of money.

This is highly discriminatory.

Know this: I am not railing against necessary forms of socialism, but I want the tax burden and code
to be fair and balanced. It is not. - Ken

There are 3 points I want to make, I'll try to be as polite as I can.

1) You can think of a lot of things as public service, and like all public service, you can never be 100% fair as that's just how things are. This is the same as insurance, you will never always come out ahead and as a matter of fact you will always come out slightly behind, but are you feeling lucky? If not then there's nothing you can do but to buy it. Fire, police, school are all like that. If you remove education then you will likely attract families who don't care about education to your neighborhood, and you know what would happen when you are in a bad school district right?

2) You went to school right? Who paid for it? Did they pay for everyone but you? Did they double your family's property tax because they have 2 kids? Did they discriminate you because you take more of the teachers' time at school? Did they charge you extra because you play sports? Did they charge you more because you take more classes or stuff like that?

3) There are many ways to say the same thing, some more polite than the others. Yes I have a problem with the attitude of that bumper sticker. If it says something like "Yes to Prop XXX, Seniors right to stay in their home by waiving property tax on school district", I'm ok with it. However this is highly offensive and combative, and yes, it is indecent. I'm calling it what it is.
