I just got a small battery (370 CCA) that had been sitting at a store since August 2020. It had about a 55% charge when I got it.

It's for a hybrid vehicle, so I'm wondering whether I should just trickle charge it or if there are other things I can do to prolong its longevity. If there's any way to desulfate the battery I would definitely be open to it.

This is the battery...

No. They couldn't sell it. Didn't want to bin it. So here it is.
If you got it for nothing, you have nothing to lose. Get a Battery Minder. It fix that battery right up.

A year in storage isn't a year under the hood. It's not perfect, either, but it's not like it would be if it aged with heat and charge/ discharge cycles.

Throw a 6 amp charge on it until it gets near 15.5 volts then send it.

I'm going to keep it charged up on a battery minder until I need it. Thanks everyone!

Most of the newer chargers and maintainers will go through a desulfate charge algorithm. I remember checking one of my newer ones and checked with a multimeter. The charger's voltage was continuously changing. The newer charging algorithms are supposed to help get sulfates back into suspension.
