Well, I just changed the coolant in 2 of my cars.

I bought Prestone Any Make/Any Model Antifreeze to change the 2006 Murano, but chickened out after reading here. I went to Dealer and got $18.50 per gallon of antifreeze (already had one gallon) since Prestone is a Dexcool clone. I flushed with tap water and added antifreeze and distilled water. Had to refill several times. Can't believe they want 30,000 mile changes (after initial 60,000 mioles) !

I then checked my 1996 Chevy Express Van and decided to use Prestone in that. Just drained and refilled with 50/50 antifreeze and distilled water. Good for another 5 years/150,000 miles !

Prestone "universal" coolant is a "dex-clone" containing 2-EHA (2-ethyl hexanoic acid) which dissolves some plastics. Japanese automotive engineers do NOT recommend coolants containing 2-EHA. In addition, Prestone "universal" coolant does not contain any phosphates which are an important ingredient in Japanese POAT coolants.

I would not use Prestone "universal" coolant in any vehicle where the OEM coolant is different from Dex-Cool.
