My wife gets at least one recruiting call a day from job seeker type companies trying to fill positions.

She is gainfully employed, and has to turn away clients.

These calls just amass on our answering machine - were not there when they call to answer and tell them to take us off the list.

We are on the national do not call list.

Any recommendations besides turning off the answering machine?

I think it is great that we are getting all these calls in a "recession", but they have become an annoyance.

Ideas?

I get one or two a week, contract work is quite popular in my field. I also have a nice full time job and politely tell the recruiters that i'm not currently interested, i've never been one to burn a bridge.

Tell them that you appreciate the calls but are not looking. However, tell them that if you can think of anyone qualified for these positions, who is seeking work, that you will refer them to the caller. What goes around comes around.
