I see you have never been to South Florida.

I have yet to find a honest quick lube place without taking you for a major hosing...I have actually seen fist fights erupt between customers and quick lube employees.

We take all our cars back to Ford for oil changes..Plus we keep a close an eye on them also.

Well while I was waiting for them to pull the truck in, there were several things I saw that made me raise my eyebrows a bit, but nothing spectacular. One woman had her car in for state inspection, and it failed because the CEL was on. Error was "Catalyst efficiency below threshold" which as most of us know simply means one of the O2 sensors is faulty. He told her her catalytic converter needs replaced. Another guy came up, and he told him their battery tester indicated that his battery was getting low. It was a Chrysler Sebring if I remember, he said to replace the battery the passenger wheel needs to come off, and the inner fenderwell too. I seriously doubt that, but ok whatever. Of course he told him that they did battery replacements for $100. They may be better than most, but I son't think they knew all that much about what they were talkinga bout. And it was interesting, because while I was watching, they tested NONE of the batteries on any of the cars. Hmm.

Yeah, I don't get why people take their own parts to a place and pay full price anyway....

Of course they don't. Most people who work at JL don't have a clue about cars. If you can pass the computer orientation, that's all the knowledge you need there. One girl I worked with at JL wasn't even aware that cars needed oil changes until she worked there. The oil filter on her Escort had rust on it.

Specifically, which stores did you see the fist fights at?

Motorcraft filters are NOT PureOnes. They might be made by Purolator, however

It was at the 10 minute place at Sample and Powerline Road in Pompano Beach...It is near the Turnpike so it was convenient for me at the time...The place kept changing mangement and it got worse and worse...They did not want you to leave the premises with a bill less then 90 bucks...I got tired of arguing with them...They also did not want you to watch them while they were working on your car...They would tell you to go sit in the office...The fights were about when they did extra things to customers cars without notifying them first...Some people used to drop the cars off and go for coffee then come back and have a 100 buck bill...I would stand by the car anyway and that got them real [censored] off at me...I have been using Ford [only] for about 5 years now...All the quick lubes are bad here.

What amazes me is that this type of place doesn't eventually end up on some TV stations " ....on your side " segment on the local evening newscast...

The [censored] that customers are willing to put up with....I guess it says much about how dumbed down they are today...if you see such behavior I would think people would have enough sense to run, not walk away from this type of place!

Chrysler 300Ms had it battery in the passenger side wheel well. There is no way to do this under 30 mins. What a pain.

rust on filter, that is a new one...i think a lot of people dont bother looking at owners manual

Man, I am sorry you guys have to deal with all that [censored] of watching the service techs to make sure they are ACTUALLY doing what you are PAYING them to do!

Yeah, this will sound like heresy on this board. I take my daughter's XTERA to the local JL twice a year for her oil changes. Always with a $19.95 coupon. They carry the full line of PZ products, and they do a great job in a timely fashion.Very clean waiting area, polite EE's. No complaints here.
