Jet fuel consumption in the USA rose by 361,000 bbls/day to 1.27 million bbls/day, but is still down by 600,000 bbls per day (or 32%) from last year’s 1.88 million bbls per day. Watching jet fuel consumption is a good indicator for how the aviation industry recovers. Enjoy.

I think an even better number is the passenger screening count through TSA. That shows the number of people getting on an airplane, not just the fuel burn. Empty flights burn a lot of fuel, while passengers represent revenue for the airlines, so I think they’re a better indicator of the industry recovery.
