James Bond movies on Amazon Prime

It seems like they had bond “for a limited time” mid pandemic , feels like it’s permanent.

Gotta convince Amazon to finish one of the new SG1 scripts, geriatric McGuiver as a general, Tealc, Carter, Daniel would be delightful mix to pass the torch.

Family motto of Sir Thomas Bond, translated from Latin, meaning one has a lot of ambition? :)
Roman poet Juvenal wrote the world was not big enough to contain Alexander The Great's ambition but in death a coffin was enough.” The movie title is apt and fits the theme of the story.

Then they may as well include the TV production of Casino Royale with Barry Nelson from 1954.

They officially only secured the streaming rights for the Eon Productions Bond films. Various other Bond movies are available from Prime Video to rent or buy, but not included as part of the subscription video.

Oh no, no Never say never Again. 🤣

Sean Connery is my favorite actor.
I love Sean Connery as an actor but the Bond movies he was in, at the time they were made, are just too corny 😂 in many aspects. The horrible acting during action scenes, i.e. getting shot, the evil nemesis' with their private armies in volcano lairs (hence the parody done by the Austin Powers movies), were just too much for me ! The Roger Moore ear movies got a lot better in those regards and Octopussy came out at a prime age in my life ! 😆

I did something similar about 30 years ago. I binge-watched all of the Bond movies (up to that point) on VHS in order, like one or two a day for a week or two, before GoldenEye was released. I had seen so many parts and pieces of all of them at some point I generally had no idea which ones I had seen, so I made sure to see all of them.

About 8 years Ago I watched all the James bond movies and it was painful I had to force my self after about 5 movies to finish watching the rest. They are all the same. I like the Sean Connery ones the best.

A maybe more interesting topic would be the inspiration for the character James Bond and the connection to The Lord of the Rings.

Ian Fleming was a commander in the Royal Navy and served in the intelligence community during WW2 as did his brother. Fleing had friends and colleagues, whose attributes and stories inspired him to create the spy character. Feling was ceertainly inspired by Kipling's Kim and the concept of The Great Game when he created Bond. Fleming loved golfing, gambling, fast cars, drinking, smoking, and women - in which order I do not know. Bond is Fleming as he would have liked to be, sans the heart disease which killed him at the not-so-ripe age of just 56. The name Bond was chosen because Fleming wanted a very bland name for his superspy. Not sure why; Bond's reputation always precedes him.

I promised a LOTR connection. Sir Christopher Lee, who ,before be became a Sir, played assassin Scaramanga, the guy with three nipples in The Man with the Golden Gun. Christopher Lee was Ian Fleming's cousin and friend. He was also related to General Robert E Lee but that is a story for another day. Anyway, Christopher flipping Lee was an intelligence officer in the RAF during WW2. It's safe to say Lee also served as an inspiration. LOTR you ask?

Lee played Saruman in LOTR and when Wormtongue stabs Saruman with a dagger in TTT, Lee used his expertise knowledge in how a man sounds when getting stabbed to death sounds to give a realistic death rattle. It was Lee who told the director Peter Jackson that his script was incorrect in describing the stabbing. How did Lee know? Well, during WW2 he had stabbed a freaking Nazi through the heart and made him dead. You can find a YT video with Lee talking about his Nazi-stabbing experience and how he used that for his death scene in TTT.

Look for 'Christopher Lee refuses to scream in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers'

For the bookworms amongst us, the Ian Fleming novels are a fun read. I did like Diamonds are Forever, but that wasn't the only good one.

The novels have a Bond that is a bit less bombastic than those of the movies. And the CIA guy in the novels is missing a hand & walks with a limp, because he's taken hits along the way.
Felix Leiter lost a hand and a leg to a shark in the novel DAF. Leiter was portrayed by seven actors over the years, including by Jack Lord as the original Felix.

I feel like this is something I need to watch!

For years, my late father and I had a tradition of watching Bond movies and Highway thru Hell over thanksgiving / black Friday.

Daniel?

or Craig David? :)

Yes. Daniel Craig. I knew it was Daniel Craig.

On the NW corner of Broadway and W 47th St. in Manhattan once stood the Victoria Theatre.
Over a weekend, they ran all 7 of the Bond films for the regular admission price.
I recall my butt being 'cloth sore'.

Amazon acquired MGM in 2021, so they became a holder of the franchise and its rights.

Let me try.

Hair-guess-heimer

Ja, ein tongue twister. 😛

Connery's wig was hilarious and the bomb delivery was actually great.

But which Blofeld doppelgänger did Bond finish this time?

IIRC that scene, it was just a floozy who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In general, the franchise has had its ups and downs, but I hope they don't mess with (up) the formula next time.

I know the Craig films got a good critical reception, but I can't say I'm enamored with the "angsty Bond." The writers of late also seem to have a fetish for crumbling buildings for some strange reason.
