Far from the dumbest criminal (you can find a lot more at americasdumbestcriminals ), but simply an example that Germany justice system can be as screwed up as the U.S. court system.

The offender in your link has 22 previous convictions, held a woman for ransom with what she thought was a real gun, and stole a car.

He is only getting a sentence of 7 years, and will probably serve less than that.

Personal opinion before the lock: he should have been flat-lined by the justice system after his second offense.
